Feneos “Vanilla” Beans (PDO)
The product with the protected designation of origin (PDO) “Feneos Vanilla Beans” has organoleptic characteristics that set it apart from other beans and make it especially attractive to consumers, thanks to its sweet taste, its ability to cook quickly, and the fact that after boiling, the beans remain whole, with soft flesh that does not separate from the skin.
The soils where the “Vanilla Beans of Feneos” are cultivated are located on the bed of the old natural Lake Doxa, which once existed in the area, allowing them to retain relative moisture. These soil conditions are particularly favourable for bean cultivation.
Uniqueness of the product: The “Feneos Vanilla Bean” has been systematically cultivated in the Feneos region since the late 19th century. Its long-standing cultivation is due to its special qualities: very small size, snow-white colour, oval shape (rather than kidney-shaped like most beans), thin skin that allows faster and better cooking, sweet flavour, and high nutritional value. The local name “Vanilla” was given by the growers themselves to emphasize its pure white colour and sweet taste, reminiscent of vanilla. These exceptional qualities distinguish it from other beans and make it highly sought after in the market.
This product is ecologically pest-controlled.
